Thursday's Tote

One side is more casual.  The other is a bit more dressy.  Hopefully I have every occasion covered!  lol

These take a lot more time than I figured. I worked most of Thursday and just sewed the lining in this morning.  My fabric placement could be better as well.  Live.  Learn.  And die dumb!  lol

I used canvas as my backing with a batting on top.  Then I placed some focus squares and did quilt as you go around them.  I wanted the handles to wrap around the bottom but be hidden under the bottom fabric.

I also wanted a lining with pockets.  I planned that but they were too close to the bottom but it still works.

I really should make another before I forget again how to do the lining!  The canvas and batting have given the tote a nice structure. The bottom is boxy.  I have run out of black thread but I have to do errands and will get some thread to finish off the top stitching on the handles which also have batting in them for comfort when the bag is on my shoulder!

I think spring is finally coming.  I am hearing birds.  :)  I haven't actually seen a robin but others have.

And it is sunny. Cool, but sunny!  yippee!  Actually the freezing temperatures have dried up lots of the water.  Good thing as my rubber boots have a hole and it is down low and handy to the puddles.  Gee.  I certainly don't want to be toting around muddy spring water! lol

Ooohhh I love your new tote bag. The colors are tres chic. How smart of you to use canvas and batting to give it strength. Smart pockets too! Well done Dear...
Hooray for sunshine and birds singing. Will Duct tape fix your rain boots until you can replace them?

Your new tote is fabulous. I like the idea of padding the straps...very smart. The sun is shining here and we are supposed to have a dry weekend.

I love the tote. You're much more capable than I am! I don't know how to run the straps underneath.

It even LOOKS warm there. We had a hard freeze last night, so anyone who planted their garden was in for a nasty surprise.

That's a nice tote. I'm sure it will be functional and it really looks quite lovely to me. Both sides!!

I really like your bag, it will be perfect for your trip and then around home after. There are some pretty lovely rubber boots available now, time for a new pair.
