I'd like to make a statement

As I renew my commitment to blogging I'm also assessing my intentions.

I follow The Textile Blog by John Hopper and he has very interesting posts.  This particular post was about artist statements.  He wraps up his post by saying:

"Above all, an artist statement is a message of being, that is transposed to the outside world. This is me, you are saying, and this is my creative journey. Share this with the world and you share the core of who you are as an individual and as an artist."

hmmm...

The young woman I am working with in my new job has no problem saying, "I want to be an artist!".  I still stutter when I say the word 'artist' but somewhere in blogland I heard the statement-  "If you do the work, then claim the name!".   I DO have a fully equipped playroom that testifies to the work.  :O  So...

It seems a good place for us to begin.  Well, maybe after we ask Wikipedia how to write it!  LOL

P.S. :  I'm still adjusting to my schedule but, darn it, maybe the Rooster was right, I feel great!!!

New purpose and new attitude my friend. You are an artist! I never believed I could be an "ARTIST" because I cannot draw or paint a picture...however I am an artist because I am creative. So happy for you Feeling Great my friend. Creative Artist Bliss Dear...

I'm sure your new challenges will increase and expand your creativity even more.....may, however, cut into your time a bit...but you will handle it. Funny, how innocent words can be so scary! I know the feeling but it is only a word. You've earned it....use it!

I'm catching up with reading, how wonderful that you have started a new job! And I think you must be an artist, you make art.

Blessings to you on this new portion of your journey, dear friend. I too was told I could "never" be an "artist" because I didn't paint/draw like...Michelangelo or whoever...Then I hit 50 and began to 'make art' with fabric, fibre and floss (embroidery). I commend to you "Art and Fear" -- I read it over and over and over again in order to gird my loins against those who think I can't be/am not an artist. Claim it boldly...all the while recognizing how much you might have to learn...and don't worry about the culture's tendency to validate success only in monetary terms. That is ...phony. Be calm and carry on... to make art!

good good good! always a time for everything under the sun. and yes, you are an artist, and why? Because God made you! "you are not your art... you are God's Art" {form emily freeman's book, a million little ways} which i highly recommend! And Let Your Light Shine!
