Faerie Nice Summer

The blossoms on the trees and shrubs in the bush, along the ditches, and in the flowerbeds has been amazing this year.  My containers are a bit disappointing but summer has a only just begun.

Then I invited the faeries to come play

The bed along the house wall is a magnet for the dogs.  :(  I asked the faeries to get creative.  (I wish they knew hoe to work the phone so. i could use their talents to improve my cell phone post!

I used landscape pavers and some old lab sinks to cover up as much of the dirt as I could to deter the dogs.  I have learned to keep an eye out for deals on large pots.  The sinks will work till I upscale.

Then I invited the grand kiddies to come and help the faeries.

Josh did an aquatic theme and even went to the ditch for a snail.

Eliana has quite a fancy collection but insisted that hers include a clothes line.  She always manges to surprise me.

Jolina is no surprise.  She wants wee animals included in her vignette.

I have one smaller sink to place and some boulders to remove from the front corner.  The large rocks were my first attempt to thwart the dogs.   :/

Hopefully I can showcase the finished result with a larger keyboard, successful landscape plan and no paw prints!!

How many more sleeps?

We were in danger of sun burn a week ago and now there is such a bite to the wind that I'm wearing a sweater under my hoodie.  I have had to cover plants and even then the morning glories were mournful after their overnight blankie was removed.

Top of the list before packing for the trip to visit DD was to get the grass all cut and the plantings into the ground.  I bought a second clematis thinking the original was dead. oops!   Some things are so late.  They know it is cold!  The Rooster has a couple of cucumbers to stick into the 'real' garden and we will be just about on schedule to move to the structures phase for summer and June 21st  when I get back.   He will do another weeding and maintain while I am away.

The Rooster has been watching the Faeries move in.  I also saw him checking out the water plants and pond liners on our last nursery excursion.  :O

I'm not sure it'll make this year's list but I'm pretty hopeful that the faeries will eventual get running water to play by.  But there is no time to sit and watch Faeries playing.  What is next on my list to do before I run out of sleeps?

Company's coming!

My oldest daughter, Laura, is coming and these kinds of deadlines are really great for getting some things finally done.  Last year  I had bought 3 frames for the summer decor in the front entrance hall.  I wanted faeries!  I found some decoupage images at Michaels and I bought a sheet of shiny aqua background.

I am so pleased and they took no time at all.

I cut the image out and just glued it lightly in a few spots on the background.   It doesn't bother me that the mat should be smaller although I can certainly change that later.

Sorry for the glare.  I didn't actually think about documenting this at first.  But they are so cute.  One is a boy faerie.  I have one faerie left over as the sheets came with 2 per sheet.  They are embossed  and quite detailed.

I'm not sure how my time will be next week so I wanted to get a quick post in.  I have also been  working on my journal and backgrounds.  That is so much fun.  The cleaning is also going well because it is much easier to sort stuff when I know the colour of the room and the style/theme where it should go.  So I'm not keeping stuff just because I like it and what if...  It is going if it won't work!  I  can't quite explain how freeing that is.  I figured out that my creativity will find lots of expression in my journals so I can narrow down my options for home decor and simplify the tweaking so it is a day and not a whole week when I feel the need for a change.  I now need that extra time to make art!    I'll post on Friday some of my summer decor.

The faeries have arrived and the daughter will be here in 24 hours!

Have a super Saturday and Sunday!
