Wow, if you were wondering...

No water was spilled on the worktable during Jolina's visit.  She is not the capital A artist that her sister is.

That is okay.  I am hoping for capital Q quilter as she is quite domestic.  ;~)

I took the border off the basket quilt and resewed it.  ;(  The problem seemed to be the skinny inner polka dot border.  I may look at this again when I quilt it because it never gets better, it gets worse.  This will be checked off as a finished top and awaits quilting which may become the focus of the months for next year. :(

I unearthed every pink I could find to get all my rabbits 'penned'.  As this evolves I see I need setting triangles.  ???  Solids to the rescue!   At least that is what I'm thinking.

awk, I was going for all different frames and I see I have a double.  I shall leave it.  But...   I am stopping with this photo as I may need to change those three darks.  ???   I'm also thinking that these sorta traditional and, lets face it, cute blocks are beginning to show where my heart is NOT!  Do I really want cute on my front room wall!  :0

Now this actually got a comment from the Rooster as he 'thought' this was kinda bright for me.  lol  I do LUV it.  The half square triangle's are small and I now realize are actually quarter square triangles that I am sewing into HST's.  I used the wrong die when I started cutting.  Die cutting is still pretty new to me.  I do hope I can get the bias edges to behave.  vbsigh  I fussy cut the last 18 theme triangles to get the finished size.  The print is an old fabric that has survived many purges.  I'm so glad that Vicki's HSTeria quilt along coaxed me into doing this!  Now this will go up as a wall hanging as I hate to think what it'll shrink to when sewn together!   I'm just not sure for which month.  September?  The good news is that I'll have all month to quilt it!  ;~)

July's idea is still up on the design wall.  I don't want another cute wallhanging!  I am linking up with The Needle & Thread Network.  I am wondering what everyone has been up to. If anyone else is wondering, well, wonder no more; just click the link!  :)  Yay for sunshine even if I still have my sweater on!

WOW - tripping

The jewel wall hanging was roughly laid out and I liked it.  I was just about to sew the last couple of sections together when I tripped on the fact that it had changed shape.  duh! All the sewn seams went somewhere!  lol  Sew- I got out my handy dandy proportions tool and figured out what I needed to do to make it pleasing and fit the space.  The magic size is 36 inches by 48 inches.  I had to rip a couple of seams and add in some length.  I hope I don't lose too much in the quilting because I could only cut it with two extra inches.  I pressed all the seams open and I see a couple of ripples  towards the bottom that I sure hope won't be a problem for MQing.

It seems quite large but I'd already pieced a lot of the triangles so this is what works.  I hope the Rooster doesn't crow(K) too much if I ask him to raise the new nail holes.  :0  I shall leave this pinned up while I think about it and decide how I'll quilt it.  Tomorrow I have a chance to take in Nina's walking foot for reassembling. She's the machine for the job!

I played a bit with the left over triangles.  Do I need another project? NO!  Do I need to keep more scraps??  NO!!

These triangles look odd to me, up side down!  lol  But I got this wee place mat done in record time and the few pieces of fabric put away.  I was stomping!  It'll be a MQing practice piece.

I spent a goodly amount of time tripping over piles as I looked for my fabric stamped tea cups.  After a significant clean up I was still stumped.  AH!  I unrolled the kitchen fabric and there they were, positioned and ready for tweaking!  The bonus was that I found a perfect stripe for the kitchen decor!

Lots of math which kinda worked out. Next my stripe. I decided a binding wouldn't work.  I am an asymmetrical gal so I wanted it on one side.  I was determined but I ended up taking off both sides and having some Pooh time.  Think, think, THINK!  Oh, bother!

I may be kicking against the pricks here!  ;~)

You can see I'm getting desperate as I sew wanted to have this finished for 'What's On Worktable' Wednesday.  I think I will have coffee.  :(

While the coffee was sending forth its aroma I thought, "just the taupe stripe?".    See, I need to get some darker taupe into the kitchen.  It is kinda blaugh. (sp???)  This strikes me as the right shade.  Ha!  I think I will stop jumping up and down and tripping over design decisions and go have coffee and see what ideas The Needle and Thread Networkers might have

wow ain't she sweet!

This is as valentiney as I get.  ;~)   I got to thinking about smaller projects, seasonal wall hangings and the month of February.  I am not sure I want red hearts in my front room but rich jewels would make my heart sing, "Ain't she sweet.  See her walking down the street.  Now I ask you very confidentially, ain't she sweet!".

I got a sketch.  I got a plan.  I even got fabric!  The background was bought for a round tablecloth years ago.  Confirms my colour choices have been consistent for this room.  The two hand dyes are from Vicki.  It is the first time for me to use my cutter for cutting and I am very impressed.  I just used the centre triangle from the three inch Triangle in a Square die.  Matching has been a dream even with my improvisational piecing.   (so far)

My first rough draft.  I need to ensure eye movement all around.  The left hand corner is up for analysis.

"Now cast an eye in her direction.  Oh me, oh MY! Ain't that perfection!".    At the very least...  SWEET!

The grand kiddies are coming today but I do hope to get around and see what kinds of sweetness the sweethearts in the rest of Canada are sampling on this week's The Needle and Thread Network.
