Finish Five,part A
This quilt top is the main reason I joined the Finish a Long. It had been languishing way too long. It is my daughter's wedding quilt and child number three is here. :( I learned a valuable lesson on procrastinating. I can't even find the book that has the original wall hanging directions. I just made it bigger and got overly clever with all the colours and 'flowers'! The wedding saw all but the last row and a half done. Then she sat. and sat and SAT! enough. But even with the April deadline I dragged my feet and that has put the other ufo's behind. BUT...
She is done and I will be putting her on the second quarter list for machine quilting and the final part B. The binding is worrying me. Why did I let DD talk me into all those curves???
The north rooms are also in part A mode. I am slowly putting things back. I need to think about some kind of curtain for the sliding doors. on the other hand... Privacy isn't an issue so I'll make haste slowly. lol I am also deciding about darkening the table under the mirror and the round dining room table. Then there are colour decisions for the hutch and bookcase.
I hope to roll through some starched strips through the binder later today for the next twoquilts. Is that a finish line just ahead???

I would find it hard to cover the sliding doors as look at the light coming in...so nice. The only reason I'd cover them is for heat/cold reduction...ie summer heat and winter cold.
the quilt looks great and must feel wonderful to finally have the top finished. The binding is just a go slow process, but you can do it! I love how your north rooms are looking - and I think I have the same table as you - the one under the mirror - all those turned legs look very familiar!
We picked up some enclosed blinds from Home Depot for our sliding doors - work like a charm and don't get in the way or flap every time a door is opened.
Your north room is lovely! The light from the doors is nice, it would be hard to cover them but much more practical. So what are you going to do with all your free time when you've finished all these projects? Oh, I know...start more! LOL
The rooms are looking great and good luck on that binding....
I love your rooms with the new paint and polished floors. The light from the sliders is blissful and I would have a hard time covering them up. Binding??? Yikes! What about a backing that edges the scallops without binding...like a lining? Obviously I don't quilt. This is a wonderful year for you finishing sew many projects my dear...Congratulations!
It is such a pretty quilt!
And your rooms are beautiful! I put up a rod and a sheer curtain on my sliding door. I slide it all to the opposite side of the opening. I bought a pair of curtain holders but only out up one to tuck it behind on the one side. Privacy is not an issue here either and I love how the sheer will gently blow in the summer breeze when the slider is open.
love your rooms, I love wood. I also love natural light because I have a mountain behind my house so in the winter I have no direct sunlight. So high ceiling and light walls and tons of windows help us. As for the cold we fight it with a wood furnace or a good quilt lol:-)
Your rooms are really starting to come together nicely. I like the color choices and agree the table needs to be darker if it continues to sit under the mirror.
I've never made a quilt (and never will), but that one looks like a BEAR!
I've also never screen printed (per post below), but I love using deli paper in my art.
That is going to be such a beautiful quilt. I am sure a bias binding will flow around those gentle curves with no problems at all.
