Finish a Long Three

It was an April Fool on the Rooster as he thought one of his ewes was lambing.  Coldest April 1st in a long time so he was glad she was only fooling!  But he moved them up closer to the barn as their time is approaching.  :)

The binder works well when I have my mouth just right!  Operator error sometimes.  I do wish I had gotten the bigger size as the batting and the seams make things a wee bit more difficult.  I'll be practicing some more as I think I can snug things up even better.

But she is another finish.

This baby quilt is leftovers from a quilt along.  The top with a new backing ended up going to my niece as a wedding present.  She now has a baby and I think these leftovers will be fitting for her daughter.

I hand sewed the binding and realized I will not get my bindings done before the deadline so I am now learning how to use my binder attachment.  Stay tuned!  lol

almost there

It has been hard to keep my mind on what I'm supposed to be doing!  It'll be nip and tuck to see who finishes first.  lol

But I definitely need to stay focused!  :(

I have the three corner blocks to make but I will sew the three borders together first so I can see better what goes next to what.  And I hope....

But things are rapidly changing!

Why was I sweating?  The ceiling is hardly noticeable.  lol

Now there is a difference!

The ceiling changes with where you are looking at it.

Hardly any noticeable difference here but then over there.  I luv it!

There is a lovely section of texture right here.  If you can't see, it just wait.  More changes are coming!  For the north rooms.  I hope there are no more changes to that  #+/&%,  ahem! , to that particularly mind boggling quilt top!

Thursday's tangent was to ignore the gale force winds that blew things over and around, dropped tree branches, dispersed the heat and to get that baby quilt sewn together.

All the horizontal quilting was done and I kinda liked the look.

But this will be washed lots so I stuck to the plan to outline each square.

It kind of works for the plaid on the back. I used a variegated thread on the back ,

and the front.

This was a quick quilt so I had used the envelope finish and after taking the front picture decided to add one more row of stitching to the edge. hmm, I'm thinking I could have lengthened my stitch more.

Today I'll be on my little lawn tractor, not green but I'll be cutting the green. And the brown. The farm yard has been grazed by the sheep this past week and they have better stuff to eat so they have been pretty choosy about what's been offered. So I'm the clean up crew!

Heat wave

It's official. We have a heat wave happening. Same temperature yesterday but it felt cooler because the humidity was down.

Hmm, I seem to be stuck in plain patchwork for these quick baby quilts. I should think about storing us some half square triangles or something. ;)

But I learned one time to let the fabric do the work so here we have Daddy's work logo for a backing, a subtle pattern that fits momma's decor, and something cuddly for the baby.

My current helper. I gave him bread to toss to the chickens. What I didn't realize was that he can open the gate so he and the dog had a wonderful time chasing chickens while I was working on the other side of the yard. oops! He also showed me how the broody hen pecked him as he caught one of her chicks to hold. Tough little guy! No harm done except I expect there will be a bit of a barn dance when they see me take him home today. .

A Golden Opportunity!

The sun typifies life.

So when life gives one opportunities, one needs to avail themselves of those opportunities; drink them up, so to speak.

Savour

Make a plan and use what is at hand.

Or go out and get it. 8^)

Kernels of gold.

But find the time.

Don't settle for less than the real thing.

So when a golden opportunity comes along...

Seize it! And go look for that golden egg! Maybe you'll find it!!!
