50 to 100%

 Next up on my The Next Thing First list is my wardrobe.  I have been buying art supplies rather than clothes and I am practically nek ked, not to mention out of style.  :O

So I looked for my notes from Marie Kondo's book.  I have no idea where they might be so I turned on you tube.   Ha, I won't have that much!  But when you put E v e r y t h i n g on the pile it is shocking!

My goal was 50%.  Because I rate shopping for clothes very low on my must do list I tend to have less rather than more. I knew some would be quite worn and some may even be too old to be labeled 'classic!   It went real quick.

Not sure if I actually made 50% but it was close.  I put the plastic shelving unit in where a shoe rack was.  I pulled it ahead for the photo.  I put  my small stuff and jammies I had in the dresser way on the other side of the room which was inconvenient.   That dresser now has some seasonal stuff and my sheets.  The shoes are up where the sheets were.  Quilts and pillows are above.  Much handier as I can dress quickly and all in one spot!

I  don't need lots more.  I have been wearing old worn stuff and ''saving' the good.  :(  I am short on dresses and was shocked by all the sweaters and sweatshirt jackets.  Obviously I like tees!  I did need unmentionables, a pair of closed toes shoes for summer/fall, a winter coat and a few good tops.  Skirts I had to buy last year.  I do have my new garment sewing book and I will be making things.  So..

I had hoped to have a lovely photo of new clothes but I blew the budget on the unmentionables.  sheesh.  It has been a while since I have been to the mall and it has really changed.  I took a break and decided I had spent enough.  But I will be back!

My first stop was not for clothes though.  I have long been looking for a typewriter and good ol' Michael's now carries one.  I have been waiting for a 50% coupon and there was a 50% coupon as a one day special.  :)  Unfortunately the fine print said NOT including the typewriter.  But it and some paper stuff for it was on sale and really, I have been looking for a few years.  I have fond memories of banging away on my Dad's old one while I played office and then graduated to school papers!   I am doubly thrilled it came in something besides pink and it makes me smile just looking at it.  This is definitely an 100 percenter!!! 

Moving the old plastic shelving to the bedroom closet was a brilliant idea.  Unfortunately when I was emptying the drawers  I saw I'd created a problem because the new tower I got for my fibre art threads turned out to be narrower. Only 50% of the stuff fit. :{    That means that the needle felting supplies need a new place.  What to do????

I shuffled things around in the sewing room closet and I got another 50% of storage space.  Gee, whiz!  I may have to go back shopping!  :/

Oh!!!  I can type up the next shopping list!  Feeling 100% better already!  lol

What's on the worktable this week?

I absolutely can't do an ugly picture first so behind the mess is the start for my DYLP for this week.  This is just the first layer and wouldn't ya know I'd pick double flaps for this particular week.  lol  Busy as anything and I did this last night just so it could dry overnight for the next layers.

Here is the ugly.  Elaina left on Sunday.  She had her brother and sister in to see her new journal and show them theirs.  :O  Then I had just dumped my new iron down and continued to throw in things as I spring cleaned the other rooms.

Those who know me will roll their eyes.  Laura, that is you!  But I am moving on.  The house is getting its final tweaking.  No more waiting for tomorrow.  If I have things in mind that can happen asap, then I put them in place.  Anything that doesn't fit the immediate plan is leaving.  Painting must wait for a new roof but the Sunshine room is a guys place with masculine reading material.  The gal room has all the pink and yellow stuff and will see white furniture and books like Trixie Beldon, Little House on the Prairies, Little Women and The Secret Garden. The biggest room is the playroom and all sorts of creative books live in there with all sorts of supplies. So we are in the second largest room which has all the green and aqua stuff and our books. I moved the computer out of our room and along  the end wall of the upstairs hall.  I will just live with the big extension cord until the electrician comes around.  I am on a mission to reduce visual clutter.  I am also putting a moratorium on decorating.  It is taking up way too much of my creative time and I could use the time to do some creative garment sewing.  I can't edit the closet as there isn't much in there!  ha!

General books are downstairs.  I wrapped them in brown paper and studying this photo I may put that boxed set back in the front room.  Sh!  I used the Rooster's big roll of freezer paper.  ;^) I'll have to get my letter stamps out for titles.  I can hear the Rooster crowing now!  lol  I like the neutral sitting room.  I like the more colourful but also quiet front dining room.  But that blah kitchen is driving me nuts so we made one more change and I added some more colour.  But that is for tomorrow's reveal.  I have to get the worktable cleared and hopefully get the Irish Chain quilted.  Tomorrow I also start Sketchbook Skool, a six week gift from the Rooster! mmmmwah!

But now I need to get that worktable workable!

Open door. Close door?

How about throw away the door!

This upstairs hall way usually has my flannelet design wall across this shallow closet.  I did learn to store stuff I don't usually need in it as there is usually something pinned all over it. 

Friday I was kinda frustrated and when I get that way I need to DO something.  I tend to take things out on the vacuum and while I was working I was thinking.   The clutter in the house is bothering me.  I am also thinking  about ways to get things finished.   How can I do things better?

I can't say enough good things about blogging.  It makes me commit and then it makes me figure out how to make those commitments happen.  Mostly I trick myself.   lol

 I blog Monday to Friday as my weekends are pretty much taken up with family.   To have Finishes for Friday I need to begin to plan on Monday.  But I need to get busy on Monday, not plan things.  So when I Finish on Friday I won't be finished until I have the plan for the following week.  This also means I'll be blogging about what I've done not just what I'd like to do.  So while I will bead on Monday it'll be the theme for Tuesday.  Tuesday is the day I'll prep for WOW, Worktable On Wednesday!  Then Wednesday I can be busy on house stuff and finishing the goal for the week which posts Friday.  etcetera!

 All that creative energy made me want to tear the hall door off.  I decided the days of queen sized quilts is over and the design wall becomes the hanging place for UFOs which make me duck my head as I pass through this space.  Be gone!  The fashion fabric is not too fashionable any more so...  Be gone.   Stacks of books everywhere is becoming hazardous to the Rooster's toes!  Be gone.

 This closet will house the computer when we change to high speed.  This gives me a better idea of what needs to happen.  I'm all about form over function.  I'm not liking the visual clutter of the books so I did some more creative storing.  lol 

A quick fix, some improvement, still a bit too cluttered, but I feel better. I did pass the fashion fabrics quickly off to my daughter on Sunday as I was already starting  to have second thoughts about my first good intentions.    I am forcing myself to stay focused and this hallway is further down the to-do list.  I can however be thinking ahead to solutions to some of the things that will be needed to make this work.  I am getting a bit smarter in my great old age!  ha!

So this week my goal is to get the last of my stitching patterns done.  I've sliced up the last of my solid black fabric.  This is not real exciting but I'm sure I'm going to refer to these over and over again and I'll be sew glad I persevered.  I need to plan the beading class schedule, WOW what's on Wednesday's Worktable,  declutter something else and find something to play with.

Some people sweep things under the rug. I shove them in a drawer or closet and slam the door.  I think I'm going to open a few more doors and maybe even get rid of the door entirely.  Open doors are definitely open opportunities.
