I think the grand kiddies scared off my mojo when they skidded into my studio looking for the first thing they could lay their hands on to play with. I do believe they will now be back to the regularly scheduled visiting schedule so I need to find out what drawer my motivational maid might have chosen to hide out in.
I do need to do a bit more work on the Altered Book transfers from last week and I seemed to have had only enough energy to hit google- gel medium transfers. I have lots of options h\and decided to see if this would be a jackpot!
But the actual trying was a bit disappointing.
I tried a gel medium on plain sketchbook paper and there is a hole in the background. I tried the modpodge and it did pretty good but I suspect the paper will still tear if I rub too much.
This was fast but now to clean it up without tearing the base page???
I tried a magazine page placed face down onto gel medium that was spread on deli paper. I let it dry. Then attempted to remove the paper. Not great. I shall be looking for a better way to do this along with a continued search for the mojo! lol
BTW, this kinda makes me guugle and gaa gaa! ;^)
So far the packing tape is appealing and I am trying to find larger clear mac tac.

I tried a bit of transferring too, and really didn't have good results. Then I got a book but didn't get into it it. I'll see how you make out.
I have had no luck with the gel transfers either. In the olden days there was a special medium (which I have forgotten) that you brushed on one direction and let it dry...then brush on another layer in the other direction and let it dry...over about 6 layers. It always worked! But the EPA has probably banned or taken out the good properties that made the product work. How about just using the page or image as is? Happy Creating Dear...
We finally have rain and it is glorious. Your Mojo is in that studio I just know it!
I love the look of transfers but have never been that great at it either. Perhaps you'll have better luck than I did!
A quick thought came to mind that it may be the paper that you are using.
A google to Golden Paint company turned up this. http://www.goldenpaints.com/technicaldata/transimg.php
I have only tried transferring to fabric.
Also I have read that it is a balance of how much medium to use ie to wet, to dry...etc.
Maybe treating the paper before hand in some method would work better to seal the surface so the medium does not disintegrate the paper.
There has to be an answer somewhere...
or you cover up the blank spots with something else and pretend you did it on purpose. Another "creative design change" (my favorite saying.)
well, your efforts are not wasted; it's all learning curve, right?! Well, at least that's what I'm telling myself - am going to try some gel medium with newspaper on organza.,.. we'll see how that turns out! Then... maybe some thermofax screens! Wish me luck!
